This is a curled 'Tube' Worm. Its body is buried underground with the retractable feathers in the water to catch its food.

Marine worms are 60 million year old creatures that still survive to this day. There are 28,000 known species with new ones still being discovered, some scientists estimate a possible 100,000 species exist. They are little miracles capable of surviving many different environments including some some varieties that live on volcano edges and can survive 105°C.

Marine worms are extraordinary! Many are beautiful, yet even the ugly ones can do amazing things, like glow different colours under UV light.

This was surprisingly tough. What you see here is not the first iteration, I had to start over to create something I was happy with, where the fronds were sized correctly to the body size, and I got the smooth body right.
