This is a Tube worm. 'Scorpion Tail' is not its proper nickname but mine. Like other types of tube worm, its body is buried underground with the retractable feathers in the water to catch its food.

Marine worms are 60 million year old creatures that still survive to this day. There are 28,000 known species with new ones still being discovered, some scientists estimate a possible 100,000 species exist. They are little miracles capable of surviving many different environments including some some varieties that live on volcano edges and can survive 105°C.
