While many see plague masks as frightening these days, I like to think of them as positive things. The good people that wore them during the plague were administering medicine, support and hope to plague victims and their families. The masks large noses were stuffed with herbs and aromatics to try and stay safe, often to no avail.
It seemed only right that this plague mask series was created with thousands of tiny dots representing the fleas that caused the plague. I used three sizes of black art pens (1, 0.5 & 0.05) and many hours of stippling (not pointillism, that's a different artform) to create the different textures of fabrics or leather.

These Plague Masks have been a labour of love. Each piece to about two days of marking thousands upon thousands of tiny, individual dots.
Care
Just in case, do not place over a direct heat source; keep out of strong sunlight. Probably not best for a child's bedroom...
