These Plague Masks have been a labour of love. Each piece to about two days of marking thousands upon thousands of tiny, individual dots using five different pen thicknesses. 

Why pointillism? It felt appropriate to create the images thinking of the tiny dots being the plague carriers that required creation of the plague masks in the first place. 

Why plague masks? Well, they can be seen as sinister or they can be seen as caregivers. Traditionally, the noses were stuffed with fresh and dried flowers, believing this would keep the wearer safe, as they went house to house trying to help the sick and prepare their loved ones for what came next.

Care

Just in case, do not place over a direct heat source; keep out of strong sunlight. Probably not best for a child's bedroom...
